I had the pleasure of speaking with an up and coming femcee. She's from the Boogie Down Bronx, and her name is J LA P.
We had a chance to discuss how she began rapping, who she would love to do a song with and her qualities in a mate.


What made you pursue rapping?
I've always been a fan of hip-hop, from a young age. I listened to Biggie, Big L, Jay-Z, Big Pun and Remy Ma. I started writing when I was 13 and writing was my hobby until I turned 18. Then I met an aspiring artist who suggested I pursue rapping professionally. I've been rapping for 2 years now.

You wrote on your fist blog: "Superb*tch is a name I earned this far"....
Many times as a female, being opinionated and driven is viewed as a b*tch. Trying to take the negativity off the word. Also people can't disrespect me by calling me a b*^%h, if I call myself a superb*tch.

Would you consider yourself to be a fan of the feminist movement?
I am a fan of being treated equally. Now a days "feminist" gives off a certain stereotype. I am for and support women being in more control and empowerment.

What is your view on female emcess today?
It's difficult to make it as a female artist. If you are trying to do anything other than fit the males perspective of how a female rapper should be. Examples such as being oversexed and falling back on lyrical creativity.
I also feel like female artists should support each other more. Or be more diplomatic towards each other in order to open more doors.

There is alot of labeling in our society. Would you respond to female rapper or white female rapper?
I view myself as a female rapper. I speak more for females than just Italian-American female. I do understand that the industry does not work like that. Also, outside of NY is less diverse. I would probably be viewed as a white female rapper at first, but I move to inspire females as a whole. Not just separate myself into one category. I don't want to be looked at as a gimmick, just respected for my talent.

Who would you like to do a collabo with?
Christina Aguilera. I admire her talent and her amazing voice. I also admire her going from a mold of what her label wanted her to be and creating her own name. Not many artist can do what she does as far as changing up her style from album to album.

What does J LaP do in her spare time?
I like to go tanning and workout. I'm a homebody, I just like to chill.

What qualities do you look for in a mate?
Someone who actually has a personality. (laughing) These days alot of people think they can rely on looks or what they own to make people want them.
But i just want a genuine dude who takes care of himself and keeps it real with me. Of course there needs to be a physical attraction, that's a given, but as long as you're down to earth and treat me as more than arm candy, we're good.

Guess Whose Back!

Hey everyone, sorry for the crazy hiatus. Had some computer technical difficulties. Now my computer is fixed, therefore let's move on! I've been brewing topics of discussion for some time. Most I wrote down, some I did not. I'd rather start with the most recent activity, that has caught some crazy attention.

First and foremost, T.I. I am not very happy with him. Here he is, a man who did his time (a sweet bread jail time at that). Involved with the movie TAKERS, got an AXE endorsement, a clothing line, and has a music company. He was probably securing more business ventures.

But....

T.I., why couldn't you wait till you got back to the hotel? Who still drives around too smoke marijuana, unless you still live with your mother. Heck, your grandmother. (Laughing out Loud moment)
Wait....should I be saying allegedly? I don't have any money, so I don't want to be sued. SO....Allegedly, this is how Mr. and Mrs. T.I were caught. The smelllllll....coming from the car......

My question is: Who benefits from T.I. being incarcerated for 11 months?
Yes, we can say a million times, "O everyone makes mistakes". Duh, common statement used time and time again. Sigh.. 11 months. No Thanksgiving, nor Christmas, o damn, no New Year's Eve. Let me spell out shaking my head.

T.I. just got married. Sigh... There's chicks still waiting to get married. Already Mr. and Mrs. T.I. can't enjoy the first year of marriage. Sigh.... SMH.
What about the children? Mostly boys, really SMH now. No holidays spent with their dad, so not fair.

The way I feel about this situation, and I can tell you, because we are just having a conversation. I'm trying not to be judgemental and I wont, because, yes we all do make mistakes. However, as I asked before, "Who is benefiting from T.I. being away for 11 months?

AXE is one company that will benefit. Since they dismissed T.I. as their spokesperson, they are saving money. How much was that endorsement? (Think about it)

The biggest group who will benefit; The Haters, or I like to call them: The Stagnate Ones. They have nothing to lose anyway, because they like no one. I mean, if I'm wrong, I'm assuming you wouldn't spend money on an item you don't like, therefore, you wouldn't purchase. This group of people were just sitting back watching like leeches for T.I. to fall.

Stagnate- to stop developing, growing, progressing or advancing.
To be or become sluggish and dull.

I like that last definition.

T.I. did tell the judge he needed help, with the hopes he will just get rehab.
No Lindsey Lohan for you buddy!

Basketball Season 2010

What will Lebron James decide? Everyone in New York, is wondering, if Lebron will decide to play for New York Knicks or (Brooklyn) New Jersey Nets. Since i couldn't care either way, I will keep tonight's blog short.

First all of my fellow NYC neighbors, where did they get all of this money for advertisements? Is that the money that they saved by laying off the majority of our city workers? Is this why our bus services have been cut? I hope Mayor Bloomberg is using his millions to fund this " PLEASE COME TO NEW YORK LEBRON JAMES campaign.

What is in Lebron James incentive package? Who is paying for him to live in lavish million dollar homes? What if we still don't win a championship? Which one of you will start going to Knicks and Nets games if Lebron picks our town? How much are you willing to pay for those tickets? Did you know that we are a part of paying their salary. The majority of their salary comes from endorsements.

Is the Dolan family going to raise our Optimum Cable prices? I'm sorry, i just thought about that. Pull out your IO Optimum bill and tell me if you are willing to pay more? These are things we don't think about. As always, I do, because you and I are having a conversation.

Let the countdown to Lebron James decision begin.

Questions....thats all I have are nothing but questions.

Here I am, buying scratch off after scratch off, from my favorite bodega. $1 here, $1 there, and Lindsey Lohan has the nerve to cry in court. What was she crying for?(Shaking my darn head)
Did she not know that if you dont abide by the court, that its a possiblity you will be sent to jail?

Now please help me understand, afterall this is about you and I having conversation. It boggles me that the simple things we should do, we don't do at all. How many times have we said we were going to double up on a bill the following month. Then we end up going from pillar to post, trying to catch up.
All Lindsay had to do was abide by the court system. Go to all of her meetings and stay out of trouble.

That simple?

I sometimes wish that I could pull money from a tree. In any increments of my desire. What a fantasy! However, to watch the news and hear about Lindsey Lohan being a talented girl that simply can't get it together. *Shaking my Head* Makes me want to stay broke.
So tell me, is it really worth having so much money? Million dollar homes and cars. The exquisite taste you suddenly acquired when you recieved your first check?

Listen, I liked Freaky Friday and I'm not knocking Lindsay Lohan. I hope she gets the help she needs, but come on. Let me help you figure out what to do with your time and money Ms. Lohan. My mother has always told me, dont envy what others have, because you dont know how they got it, or what they are doing to maintain it.

So with that said: DEAR MS. LINDSEY LOHAN, DONT DROP THE SOAP.

Soooo... everybody's doing it? Whats IT you ask? Blogging. Starting a blog, involved with a blog, reading blogs. Who made up the word blog anyway? I decided to look in the dictionary, for the meaning of BLOG.

BLOG- a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about thier personal experiences and hobbies.

Now that is self-explanatory. However, will I be sharing my journal? Nope, thats my personal stuff. Your journal can be used against you. Hobbies, well as you can see, one of my hobbies is writing.
Personal experiences, yeah I can share some of those with you. Afterall, in order to gain your trust as my readers, I have to let you see that I am no different than you are.

This is my first blog, over a year in the making. Amped up by my closest friends and family, i decided to start my own blog. The main reason was, I have things I want to discuss and I have issues on my mind. But I dont want to wait for someone else to post it. So now, the responsibility is on me. When I have something to say, I can log on and post it. I think this should be a kool and great new experience.

So bare with me folks, I have lots of things to discuss, debate and scratchin my head with confusion, lol.
